#33 Jamal Adams, SEA

Dynasty IDP Jamal Adams is IDPE’s #3 dynasty Safety in 2021. Seattle Strong Safety (SS) drafted in the 1st round (#6 overall) out of LSU in the 2017 draft. Named a second team All-Pro twice and a first team All-Pro in 2019. He holds the record for the most sacks in a single season by a defensive back (9.5).

attributes:

An instinctive, explosive 5th year safety. He has average athleticism and size for his position, and a high end College Prospect Score (CPS).

player grades:

Adams was elite in 2018 and 2019, per PFF.com. His player grade took a step back in his first year after being traded to Seattle, but it should improve in his 2nd year in the system. He is an elite pass rusher, maybe the best to ever do it from his position.

injury:

He missed 2 games in 2019 due to an ankle sprain and 4 games in 2020 due to a groin strain.

tackles:

He eclipsed 110 combined tackles in 2018 and 2020 (adjusted for injury). Therefore he has a solid floor in fantasy, but the down year in tackles in 2019 suggests it may not be completely reliable year to year.

big plays:

Adams makes impact plays all over the field, especially behind the line of scrimmage. As a result, he has elite upside in fantasy.

contract:

Adams is in a contract year with Seattle. It would be surprising if Seattle didn’t lock him up long term after trading two 1st rounders to New York to acquire him.

summary:

Dynasty IDP Jamal Adams is an elite player both on the field and in fantasy. Expect him to compete for a Top 5 Safety finish in 2021 and dynasty. There is some risk that he could be playing for another team next year, but his talent all but assures he will still be a strong fantasy asset wherever he lands.
