Devin White – 2021 Dynasty IDP #3 Linebacker
#45 Devin White, TB
bio:
Dynasty IDP Devin White is IDPE’s #3 dynasty Linebacker in 2021. Tampa Bay Linebacker drafted in the 1st round (#5 overall) out of LSU in the 2019 draft. Won the Butkus Award and was a 2nd team All-Pro in 2020.
attributes:
An athletic, sideline-to-sideline, every down 3rd year linebacker with playmaking ability. His athleticism graded out as excellent and he has adequate size for his position. He has a high College Prospect Score (CPS), checking pretty much every box you want to see in a high upside prospect. The sky is the limit for this young linebacker.
Age* | Height | Weight | 40 | SPARQ | CPS |
23.6 | 6’0″ | 237 | 4.42 | 139 | 10.4 |
player grade:
White was one of the elite pass rushers at the ILB position in 2020 per PFF.com. He took a step back in his run defense and pass coverage in his 2nd year, but he is able to salvage mistakes with his athleticism. He is an absolute blur on the field. While he made some big plays, he needs to take a step forward and become a more consistent player in 2021.
Year | Overall | Run Defense | Pass Rush | Coverage |
2019 | 51.9 | 46.9 | 52.8 | 57.4 |
2020 | 43.4 | 41.0 | 85.9 | 39.8 |
injury:
He missed 2 games in 2019 due to an MCL sprain.
tackles:
He had elite tackle stats in his 2nd year, giving him a high floor in fantasy.
Year | SOLO | AST | COMBINED | A4I* |
2019 | 58 | 33 | 91 | 112 |
2020 | 97 | 43 | 140 | 149 |
big plays:
White makes impact plays all over the field, especially behind the line of scrimmage. He is one of the highest upside players in fantasy.
Year | SACK | STF | INT | PD | FF | FR |
2019 | 2.5 | 4 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 4 |
2020 | 9 | 15 | 0 | 4 | 1 | 1 |
contract:
White is still on his rookie contract, which expires after the 2022 season. It’s pretty safe to assume at this point that White will receive the 5th year option in 2023 or be resigned to a long-term deal by TB.
summary:
Dynasty IDP Devin White probably has the highest upside of any linebacker in the league. His dynasty rank takes a slight hit due to some deficiencies in run and pass defense. If he can take another step forward in his 3rd year, expect him to compete for the LB#1 spot for both 2021 and dynasty.
