C.J. Henderson – 2021 Dynasty IDP #5 Cornerback
#23 C.J. Henderson, JAX
bio:
Dynasty IDP C.J. Henderson is IDPE’s #5 dynasty Cornerback in 2021. JAX Cornerback (CB) drafted in the 1st round (#9 overall) out of Florida in the 2020 draft.
attributes:
A press coverage 2nd-year cornerback, he has good size and is an elite athlete. Henderson has an above-average College Prospect Score (CPS).
Age* | Height | Weight | 40 | CPS |
23.0 | 6’1″ | 204 | 4.39 | 4.8 |
player grades:
Henderson graded out as the #74 cornerback out of 121 qualified players in 2020, per PFF.com. He was a rookie, so the low grades are not uncommon. Typically, you prefer average to below-average coverage grades and strong run defense grades for fantasy CB.
Year | Overall | Run Defense | Coverage |
2020 | 57.9 | 53.7 | 58.3 |
injury:
Missed one game in 2020 due to a shoulder injury before going on injured reserve after Week 10.
tackles:
Henderson was on pace to break 70 combined tackles in his rookie year (adjusted for games missed). Therefore, he appears to have a decent floor in fantasy.
Year | SOLO | AST | COMBINED | A4GM* |
2020 | 27 | 9 | 36 | 72 |
big plays:
He did not fill out the big play stat sheet in his rookie year. This limits his upside in fantasy, but he only played in 8 games last year due to injury, so we will hope for a step forward in 2021.
Year | SACK | STF | INT | PD | FF | FR |
2020 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 6 | 1 | 0 |
contract:
Henderson is still on his rookie deal. JAX has a 5th-year option available, so he will be an unrestricted free agent in 2025.
summary:
Dynasty IDP C.J. Henderson had a promising rookie year before going on injured reserve. His film shows a potential playmaker, but the sample size is small. I wouldn’t be surprised if he develops into a high-end cover corner over time, which would make him a better real-life player than a fantasy asset. If true, expect his dynasty stock to tumble.
