D.K. Metcalf – 2021 #4 Dynasty Wide Receiver

#14 D.K. Metcalf, SEA

bio:

D.K. Metcalf is IDPE’s #4 dynasty WR in 2021. Drafted by Seattle in the 2nd round (#64 overall) out of Ole Miss in the 2019 draft. 2nd-team All-Pro in 2020.

attributes:

A 3rd-year monster that can overpower, out-jump, and out-run pretty much any defender on the field. He has great size and is an athletic freak of nature. Metcalf has a high College Prospect Score (CPS).

strength of schedule:

Seattle has the 11th most difficult schedule for WR in 2021, per PFF. The bye week is Week 9, and the most difficult matchups are Weeks 5, 11, and 15. Pittsburgh, NYG, Miami, Houston, and Cleveland WRs currently look like solid options if you want to stream based on WR matchup those weeks.

contract:

Metcalf is currently playing on his rookie contract. He will be an unrestricted free agent in 2023. Expect Seattle to franchise tag him if a long-term deal isn’t reached.

summary:

D.K. Metcalf is a rising star. Perhaps the biggest threat to his long-term value is Seattle’s strange desire to run the ball despite having one of the best quarterbacks in Russel Wilson (#LetRussCook). Seattle also has Tyler Lockett and drafted D’Wayne Eskridge in the 2nd Round this year to compete for targets, but D.K. is the alpha.

Metcalf has Top 5 WR upside in 2021, but this is dependent on Seattle’s offensive philosophy. His dynasty arrow continues to point up, so expect him to compete for the overall #1 WR in dynasty next year.

Just a side note, but when the Chiefs traded up in the 2nd round of the 2019 draft, I could not believe they didn’t snag D.K. Instead, they went with Mecole Hardman (blah). Could you imagine this guy catching passes from Mahomes? It would be insane.
