bio:

Dynasty IDP Jeremy Chinn is IDPE’s #4 dynasty Safety in 2021. Carolina Free Safety (FS) drafted in the 2nd round (#64 overall) out of Southern Illinois in the 2020 draft. Dubbed a poor man’s Isaiah Simmons in the draft, he showed his versatility and was named Defensive Rookie of the Month in October and November.

attributes:

A swiss army knife 2nd year safety. He has elite athleticism and size for his position. Chinn has the highest College Prospect Score (CPS) for a safety since Derwin James in 2017.

player grades:

Chinn graded out as the #65 safety out of 94 qualifiers in his rookie year, per PFF.com. You’d hope for a higher grade, but considering he was a rookie out of a small school (Southern Illinois) with no offseason in 2020, mistakes are understandable. He was also thrust into a full-time role immediately and asked to play multiple positions all over the field. All things considered, he had a stellar rookie season.

He missed 1 game in 2020 due to a knee injury.

tackles:

He eclipsed 120 combined tackles in his rookie year (adjusted for injury). Therefore he has a solid floor in fantasy based on a one year sample size.

big plays:

Chinn makes impact plays all over the field, but the quantity was somewhat limited in his rookie year. He did score two touchdowns, but this is not a reliable stat year to year. As a result, he has some upside in fantasy and we will hope for an increase in big plays for Chinn in his 2nd year.

contract:

Chinn is still on his rookie contract. He will be a free agent in 2024.
