IDP

Dynasty Individual Defensive Players (Dynasty IDP):

  • A dynasty league is a fantasy football league format similar to keeper leagues. However, owners keep most or all of their players from the previous season.
  • An IDP league replaces the team defense (D/ST) slot with individual defensive players. The defensive players (DE, DT, LB, S, CB, etc.) and the overall quantity of IDP slots used are decided by the league commissioner.

In dynasty IDP leagues, there is no off-season. You need to churn the bottom end of your roster via waivers, make trades, pick keepers, research rookies, etc. It’s not quite as involved as fantasy baseball leagues, but you definitely want to put in some time to keep your team relevant. It’s not a lot of fun going through a multi-year rebuild, especially when you’re paying to play!

Dynasty IDP leagues (and dynasty leagues in general) are becoming more popular because it’s as close to being a General Manager that we commoners can hope for.
